Mississippi University for Women is offering a new Master of Arts in women’s leadership this 2014 fall semester.
“This program brings everything together about women’s leadership. People who are leaders and who hold leadership positions in different areas should have some type of degree towards that specific area,” said Bridget Pieschel, Director of Center for Women’s Research and Public Policy

Next week, MUW will host a campus visit by the Southern Association of College and School Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), which is the latest part of its reaccreditation process with the regional organization. Faculty and administration have been working hard for several years to submit documentation on behalf of the university, and the on-site visit is part of the process.

This year looks to be a good year for theatergoers. Blockbusters and sequels are the main focus this year and, if the trailers are true to the final product, fans will be happy. Hollywood seems to be listening to the complaints its customers have had over the past few years.

The MUW theatre department will perform “Blithe Spirit” on Feb. 27, 28 and March 1 in the Cromwell theatre.
Written by Noel Coward, the play is about an author who conducts a séance in which he brings forth his first wife. The ghost of his wife then interferes with his current wife, who is very much alive.

For me, many beautiful memories revolve around days spent twirling around to all sorts of music. Whether it was Jimi Hendrix, The Doors or Elvis Presley, I grew up with a vast array of sounds and excitement. I knew all the words to “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” at a very early age.
I even went through a phase where I adored nothing but Nirvana and gazing at a Kool Aid hair-soaked Kurt Cobain.

Dr. Nora Corrigan has been at MUW since 2008. Although MUW is a small college, Corrigan says that is one of her favorite things about teaching here. MUW’s strong sense of community is what she loves most about this school. Having a more personal relationship with students and colleagues has led Corrigan to be pro-active in more projects outside of the classroom, with her favorite being a study abroad program in Ireland for the summer of 2014.
