Campus renovations to take place this year

With any historic place, there are going to be upgrades. Recently, MUW decided to renovate Fant Memorial Library. Construction on that building is coming along smoothly. Now, MUW is continuing with campus renovations. This time the renovations will take place primarily in the residential buildings. These renovations will begin this semester, but one phase, the green space behind Kincannon and Jones Halls, began construction last semester.

BowTie For A Cause Gala

The Student Government Association is hosting a grand gala in honor of the BowTie Cause organization.

This event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 7-11 p.m. in the Limbert Assembly Hall Ball Room (Cochran Ball Room).

Ticket prices are $8 for single tickets and $10 for couple tickets. Only 140 tickets are being sold, so people are encouraged to buy tickets soon.

New partnership announced between MUW and ECCC culinary programs

A partnership between the MUW Culinary Arts Institute and East Central Community College’s Culinary Arts Technology program was announced on Monday, Feb. 3.

The partnership, which makes for a “seamless” transition between ECCC and MUW’s programs, was made official by a Memorandum of Agreement signed by MUW President Jim Borsig and ECCC President Billy W. Stewart at a ceremony on ECCC’s Decatur campus.

Juried Student Exhibition coming to Eugenia Summer Gallery

The MUW Art and Design Department is in the middle of an exciting semester. Wrapping up the exhibition of awarded artist and educator John Marshall, it is currently assembling an exhibit of 130 artworks for this semester’s Juried Student Exhibition. The Exhibition in the Eugenia Summer Gallery will open for viewing on Feb. 13 and run until March 7 with a reception on Friday, Feb. 14 from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Debuting at the top of the box office this weekend, “The LEGO Movie” earns its spot among the great animated films.

 

The story follows Emmet, a regular worker who discovers he is the “Special” one destined to save the world from Lord Business, who wants to glue everything together.

5 on 5 basketball

Did you miss out on the registration for 3-on-3 basketball? Well not to worry, the Intramural Sports Office is holding registration for 5-on-5 basketball right now. Registration will run from Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 8 a.m. until Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 5 p.m. Registration for Eclipse Ball is going on now. The registration for that will run from Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 8 a.m. until Thursday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m. The Eclipse Ball tournament will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m.  To get more information regarding the requirements for registration, visit the campus website below.
