This month MUW is celebrating Black History Month by educating the public on past and present achievements of African-Americans with inspirational speakers and engaging activities. Here is a list of upcoming activities that will take place at the W.

Tuesday Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Poindexter Auditorium – Gospel Explosion hosted by Young Black Leadership Association (YBLA) and United Harmony.

Thursday Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. in Nissan Auditorium – Film showing of “Remember the Titans” starring Denzel Washington and Will Paton hosted by Gordy’s Honors College.

Saturday Feb. 8 at 7:20 p.m. in Claudia A. Limbert Assembly Room – Sweetheart Ball hosted by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

Wednesday Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. In Limbert Assembly Room – Speaker Learnard Dickerson to discuss Civil Rights movement and The Dream 365 event sponsored by Student Life.

Friday Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. in Limbert Assembly Room – Speaker Coach Herman Boone to discuss his former head football coach career at T.C. Williams Highschool in Va. and how he lead his team to victory during the school district integration sponsored by Gordy’s Honor College.

Saturday Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in Rent Auditorium –Back to the Basics High School Step Show hosted be Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.

Thursday Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in Limbert Assembly Room – Black History Game Show sponsored by YBLA and W Leadership.

Monday Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in Limbert Assembly Room – The African-American Traveling Museum sponsored by Student Life.

Tuesday Feb 25 at 6:30 p.m. in Cochran Room 307 and 308 – Healthy Ways to Eat Soul Food hosted by YBLA.

Wednesday Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in The President’s Dining Room – Film showing of “The Butler,” starring Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey and Mariah Carey. It will be hosted by the Coretta Social Club.
