New online tutoring method coming soon to MUW students

The Center for Academic Excellence, located in Reneau Hall, is considering a new method for students who are in need of tutoring. They will be using Google Hangouts, which is a video collaboration tool that allows registered users to have real-time communication. It allows for different activities such as viewing others on a webcam, sharing YouTube videos, writing on Microsoft Word, etc. It works on computers as well as Android and Apple devices.

Columbus and the surrounding areas are filled with former MUW graduates. They can be identified by their commitment to excellence and their hard-working attitude. No former graduate exemplifies that more than WCBI news anchor, Joey Barnes.

Barnes was born in Colum­bus but moved to Millport, Ala., when he was 14.

Student Debt: Collect it in college, keep it forever, or so it seems

College is for most, a memorable experience. Students meet new people, prepare for the future and usually gain 15 to 20 pounds.

However, for most, the Freshman 15 isn’t all that’s being gained.

According to the Huffington Post, college debt is on the rise. The average student in 2012 graduated with a degree and $29, 400 in student debt. This amount has increased in less than a decade, with students in 2004 owing only an average of $18, 750.

Faculty Spotlight: Shelley Moss

It’s not all about the job for some people; it’s about what people get out of their work. Passion is one of the things that MUW alum, Shelley Moss, feels about her job. Moss said she feels connected to MUW in more ways than one. For her, MUW is like home, so being named the Director of Admis­sions was an incredible honor.
