The 2026 baseball season has been a mix of highs and lows for the Owls, with the team coming in so far with a record of nine wins and eight losses.
However, the Owls are coming in with an undefeated record in conference play at the season’s halfway mark, which sets them up in a good position as they look ahead to the postseason.
There are three players with batting averages above .400, which is an amazing accomplishment for the team, while four more are batting above .300. The players batting above .400 are Jay Marbutt at .431, Zach Johnson at .418, and Barron Brack at .406.
The Owls are not just dominating on offense, though, because Campbell McCluney has struck out 27 batters in 26 innings this season. The Owl’s gloves have also been a serious asset for the team this season, as they have a team fielding percentage of .965.
On April 3 and 4, the baseball team will go against Webster University in a hometown weekend series.

So far this season, the Lady Owls have won three matches and lost six; however, it is still early, and there has not been any conference play yet.
As the season progresses, the team hopes to turn things around and make a run down the stretch. The Lady Owls are 12-36 in individual singles matches, with the top performer, Alaina Mathis, coming in with a hard-fought individual record of four wins and five losses.
The Lady Owls have fared better as a team in doubles so far, with a cumulative record of nine wins and 16 losses, putting their doubles winning percentage at 36%, an 11% increase from their singles winning percentage.
The top-performing team for the Lady Owls in doubles is Austin Hays and Bailey Flynn, who have an impressive record of four wins and three losses as a duo. On April 4, the Lady Owls will square off against Westminster College at home in an important conference matchup.

The men’s basketball team ended its 2025-2026 season earlier this month during the NCAA first-round Division III national championship tournament against Emory University in Atlanta.
This marked The W’s first-ever NCAA III postseason game, so not only did the team have a successful season, but it also had one for the record books.
The Owls made the national tournament after winning the SLIAC championship for the first time ever. The Spectator would like to congratulate the men’s basketball team on its regular season and postseason success.
