With Halloween just around the corner, W Leadership Program (WLP) is planning its first Halloween haunted house available for all students and the public. The theme remains secret, but is inspired by a recent, popular horror film.

The house will feature about 10 locations inspired by the film with various interactive scenes. The house will be set in the Hogarth break room and auditorium, located above the W room.

“We want everyone to be excited about the theme of the haunted house, which is why we’re keeping it a secret,” said Kelsey Boman, a senior W Leadership Intern. “This is the first year W Leadership Program has hosted a haunted house. There have been haunted houses held on campus in the past, but organizations have decided to take a break on it, so we’ve decided to pick it up.”

Once visitors have made it to the haunted house, they will be escorted through a hallway the WLP has created and will get to experience the spooky scenes and locations. There will be a finale at the end of the hallway which will reveal the theme if the visitors haven’t figured it out before then.

The WLP is working very hard to prepare for this event. Boman and Laura Francis Simpson, the temporary coordinator of student activities, held an interest meeting for those wanting to help with props, makeup and costume design.

“We were looking for volunteers to play actors, makeup artists, and to help with props,” said Simpson. “Our next step will be setting up the house, which will start the week of Halloween.

The haunted house will be on Oct. 30 and 31 from 8-11 p.m. in the Hogarth break room and auditorium. The first night will only be available for students (bring a student ID) and the second night will be open to the public with a $2 entry fee on both nights.

The W Leadership Program’s annual Halloween party will also be held in the W room on Oct. 30 from 8-11 p.m. for students to attend after the haunted house.
