Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle will be hosting a luncheon for “Go Red Day” on Friday, Feb. 7, from noon-1 p.m.

The event focuses on women and their heart health and will feature motivational speaker Rita Sweatt of Amory, Miss. This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be provided.

“Cardiovascular diseases claim the lives of nearly half a million women, almost one a minute, according to the America Heart Association. Our goal is to bring attention to this and encourage women to reduce their personal risk for heart disease,” said Donna Grant, community relations coordinator at the hospital.

“‘Go Red for Women’ is a nationwide movement celebrating the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease, the No. 1 killer in America,” Grant said.

Grant encourages women to wear red to the event. The public must pre-register by Monday, Feb. 3. Seating is limited, so people should call 662-244-1132 to reserve a seat.  Sweatt has spoken at many events, but at this particular luncheon she will help women understand how to care for their hearts in more than just in the physical way.

“Rita Sweatt will speak to women about loving their heart and how to make their heart spiritually and emotionally healthy,” said Grant.
