Here’s what’s happening around town for the week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4.

The Seventh Avenue Heritage Festival will be held on Oct. 3-4 on Seventh Avenue and 15th Street N.

This will be a heritage festival with an emphasis on African-American history and music in blues, gospel and R&B Grammy-award winning venues.

“Our family has always taken pride in being a huge support for this event, because we have owned our restaurant on Seventh Avenue, which is one of the richest areas in Columbus with African-American history,” said Mesina Jones, the niece of the owner of the Helen’s Kitchen.

Arts for All will begin every first Saturday of October through December from 10 a.m.-noon. There will be two classes held simultaneously: ages 6-12 and age 13 and up. There will be various activities during the upcoming months. On Oct. 4, people will be learning the art of crocheting.

“We encourage students that have any interest in art or just being creative to come out and take part in any or all of the classes,” said Beverly Norris, programs director for the Columbus- Lowndes Conventions and Visitors Bureau.
